Frequently asked questions

Everything you want to know about the coast

When is the best time for a holiday on the Romanian coast?
The season runs from June to September. July and August are the warmest, but also the busiest and priciest. For quiet and better prices, choose early June or the first half of September — the sea stays warm well into September.
Which resort is best for families with children?
The best for kids are Mamaia, Eforie Nord and the southern resorts Neptun, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn, thanks to wide fine-sand beaches and shallow water near the shore. See our guide to the best family beaches.
Which resorts are best for young people and nightlife?
Mamaia and Mamaia Nord for beach clubs and parties, Vama Veche for a bohemian vibe and live concerts, and Costinești for low prices and laid-back fun.
How do I get to the coast?
By car from Bucharest on the A2 motorway to Constanța in about 2.5 hours. There are also trains and coaches to Constanța and the southern resorts, plus Mihail Kogălniceanu Airport for flights.
How warm is the sea in summer?
In summer the Black Sea is usually between 22 and 26°C. You can check the live sea temperature for each resort in the Essentials section.
Which attractions are worth visiting on the coast?
The Constanța Casino, the Dolphinarium and Aquarium, Histria Fortress, Callatis Fortress in Mangalia, the Tropaeum Traiani Monument and the Carol I Mosque are among the most visited. See all attractions in the Attractions section.
